Okay, I know I'm a little overdue for explaining how 'Christmas spectacular' went this year, but it's coming. In the meantime though, today I'm starting my yoga challenge! I suppose you could call it a New Year's resolution, but I feel those are tainted and doomed to fail. So instead, it is my forty day challenge. lululemon inspired this one - check out the full details here.
Basically, forty days of yoga. What? Crazy!?!? Well, I've always wanted to get more into yoga (I don't think you're supposed to creek and crack as much as I do in the morning and touching ones toes shouldn't be a fantasy) and this seemed like an excellent challenge. I do like a challenge, so... challenge accepted.
Apparently it takes forty days to create new habits, so that's where the magical number comes from and here are my 'rules':
- starting today, January 7, 2013 I will do yoga every day for forty days (simple enough?)
- what constitutes 'doing yoga'? can I just wear the pants and call it yoga? hmmm, tempting, but no... my threshold is fifteen minutes a day (totally doable, right?)
Now don't get me wrong, I haven't moved into a yoga studio, I plan on doing most of these classes chez moi but recently I signed up for yogaglo and they have loads of fabulous classes online (even quick little five minuters!) and I've queued up a bunch of classes for this week. I'm totally pumped and my yoga blocks from Amazon should arrive tomorrow (and I'm from Vancouver, so I've got lots of the pants already!).
Hopefully I will be closer to gumby by the end (toes, here I come) but hopefully a little more grounded and calm. I think I repeated a record number of eff bombs in my head today, so perhaps yoga will help me manage that ;)

Hi Megan! Found my way over to your blog from Lululemon's. I'm doing the forty-day challenge too and have been using YogaGlo for my daily dose of yoga. Any classes you've tried that you particularly enjoyed?
ReplyDeleteI am totally in love with the classes on YogaGlo! I've been really impressed and when I surf their offering it's like when I surf recipe websites, I want to make it all, but in this case, try them all!
DeleteFor now, I haven't repeated too many classes cause there are just too many options but I've been saving them to my queue and working through them. For a general (and quick) practice, I like 'Sneak a little yoga into your day' (20 minutes) by Stephanie Snyder. For something a bit more invigorating, I really enjoyed Stephanie's 'Yoga workout' (45 minutes) and yesterday I was torn between something intense or something relaxing and found 'Half & Half' by Kathryn Budig which is just that, half intense and half relaxing. It was a great thirty minute option. Ask me in another week and I'm sure I'll have another list of favourites :)
How about you? Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're enjoying your 40 days! I sure am :)
I'll have to try those! I think I have done Stephanie's yoga workout, but not the other two. I love Stephanie's instruction. I did Christina Sell's "move with beauty and intention" class and really enjoyed that. I also love Dice Iida-Klein's vinyasa classes... I enjoy the energetic pace of these. But, many of them aren't accessible to me (lots of level 2-3 things, not as much 1-2 which is where I feel I am). Happy 40 days! I am going to reward myself with some Lululemon when I am done. :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a fabulous reward! I wouldn't know what to choose though, I would want it all!
DeleteI just queued up some of your recommended classes and I'll probably try one tonight! Thanks for the tips :)
